Morningwood

    Morningwood

At a time when “Hollaback Girl” already ranks as the worst song with a pseudo-cheerleading chorus, there’s really no room for Morningwood. In the vein of the Music and the Darkness but lacking the talent to back up the posing Morningwood’s attempts at party-size grandeur fall and, like the helium-high vocals of singer Chantel Claret, annoyingly flat. Perhaps the worst offender is the single “Nth Degree,” a Studio 54-ish take on dance rock. Deprived of abandonment and excitement, the song and the album sounds like a band mashing all the current trends and ending up with nothing.
