Kings of that Brooklyn gutter rap, MOP returned in 2009 with The Foundation, the duo’s first proper studio album in nearly nine years. Originally slated as a G-Unit release, the duo split with Fiddy in 2008 and settled on E-1. They don’t ride much rougher than the Brownsville duo of Lil’ Fame and Billy Danze, so one can’t help wondering if G-Unit was looking to shore up their own credibility via the signing as much as they were hoping to break MOP big. Fiddy didn’t exactly work wonders for Mobb Deep, though, so who can blame the two for saying no thanks, and moving on yet again.

Writing about M.O.P. leaving G-Unit and releasing their album through E-1, and at the same time putting the release under Label: G-Unit Records?! Please change that label to E-1...
