This is the collector's item to end all collector's items -- the mother of all box sets. If you think you've seen elaborate packaging before, it's nothing compared to the downright hedonistic extremes of The Genius of Miles Davis. The eight previously released Miles boxes it encompasses are grand items in and of themselves, but now they've all been combined into one gargantuan, 43-CD, 21-pound package that covers crucial phases from all across the trumpet titan's career. The thing even comes in an actual trumpet case. Take out a loan, snap it up, and put it in a vault somewhere until it quadruples in value. Or maybe just take a couple of years and listen to it from start to finish.
