During his time at Columbia Records, Miles Davis recorded a jaw-dropping 52 albums. As far as modern jazz goes, he's unapproachable in scope and craft during his 30-year partnership (1955-1985) with the label. The gargantuan-sized box set, entitled The Complete Columbia Album Collection, aggregates 70 CDs and one DVD. It's called Live in Europe '67, and captures the fantastic Miles Davis Quintet (Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Tony Williams). There are two separate European concerts by the revolutionary "second great quintet," filmed in Stockholm and Karlsruhe, Germany, October and November 1967, respectively. It's the only footage of this group ever commercially released. The box set also includes a previously unreleased live recording of a performance at the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. The CDs are slick "Japanese-styled mini LP jackets" and they include bonus tracks from prior Davis reissues. There's also a 250-page book.
