Method Man , Redman

Blackout 2

Release Date: May 19, 2009
Label: Def Jam

Abstract

It's been ten years since hip hop's version of Cheech and Chong got together for a full-length album. Method Man and Redman have long been two of the most respected MCs around, but with neither of their last solo albums making much noise, the timing is probably right to revisit one of their most fruitful ventures to date. Early tracks like the funky laidback "Ayo" and the smooth, soulful "Mrs. International" are less raucous than anything that could be found on 1999's Blackout!. The new approach makes sense since both rappers are pushing 40 and would most likely seem out of place in today's market if they tried to "tear da roof off" like they did a decade ago. But with classic beatsmiths like Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, Buckwild and Rockwilder behind the boards, the high energy may be hard to contain.
