On Re-Arrange Us, indie-pop duo Mates of State doesn't so much totally upend its signature sound as add to it. Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel (unlike other girl/guy duos, an actual romantic couple) have long been making plenty of fun, sunny noise out of organ and drums. To those givens the band adds guitar, strings, horns, and piano on Re-Arrange Us, Mates of State's fifth full-length. Fitting for the album's name, and similar to Beck's The Information, Re-Arrange Us features cover at that can be...well...re-arranged into different patterns.
