When you consider both of their careers thus far, it only makes sense for these two artists to team up. Sean Price protégé Ruste Juxx, who dropped a solid debut in 2008, is right up Marco Polo’s alley in terms of MCs to collaborate with. And that became even more apparent when the Canadian producer dropped Double Barrel in 2009 with Brooklyn rapper Torae. Juxx and Polo’s The eXXecution should follow Double Barrel lead, which relied on gritty punch lines and street-centric bars spit over Pete Rock-influenced production. And, like that record, The eXXecution is just the kind of album that Duck Down needs. Some of its roster is getting a little gray and statements like this from younger cats could show the true strength of this label.
