Singer-songwriter and illustrator Marcellus Hall was primarily known in the '90s as the frontman for the industrial-grunge outfit Railroad Jerk and blues-country rockersWhite Hassle. The NYC artist's 13-track solo record, The First Line, is firmly in the Americana-folk style though. It comes with a 44-page booklet featuring his art that previously appeared in The New Yorker, Time, NY Times, The Atlantic and other publications. His supporting band is called The Hostages.
