Macy Gray The Sellout

Macy Gray's signature raspy vocals has failed to capitalize on the promise of her 1999 debut, On How Life Is, going from the future of soul singing to a celebrity poker contestant in the past decade. While Gray has sold more 13 million albums worldwide, her later albums failed to win the sales or plaudits of her debut, as an artist like Gray was hit particularly hard by the collapse of the traditional music industry. The Sellout, Gray's fifth studio album, features songs about abusive boyfriends and personal struggles. Gray has declared it her best work. The Sellout also features a duet with Bobby Brown.
