Lil Jon's Crunk Rock might not be quite to the Unicorn in the mythical beast category, but it is still looking unlikely that Jon's alleged rock-oriented rap album will actually see release, especially since Lil Wayne is set to release his own rock-oriented album Rebirth this year as well. But after a lengthy label battle after TVT closed shop, John's new label BME has announced Crunk Rock for a November release, which given that Jon's had at least five years to work on it, doesn't seem that unrealistic. But if Crunk Rock does get released this year, what remains to be seen is if Jon can regain his grasp on rap's Zeitgeist, which he had by the short and curlies in 2003 when everyone tried to replicate his oppressively loud beats and simplified choruses and structures (you could probably blame him for ringtone rap, and he'd agree).
