After lengthy recording sessions, derailed by Dev Hynes' hiatus due to throat surgery, the former Test Icicles frontman releases his second full-length album, Life is Sweet! Nice to Meet You. Recorded in Brooklyn with producer Ben Allen, the album trades the alt-country leanings of Hynes' debut for a more lush and polished aesthetic, drawing on pianos, string arrangements and 70s-style synths. Featuring two "intermissions" breaking up the album's 15 tracks, it is evident Hynes' claims of the Life is Sweet!... being influenced by musical theatre are not without merit.
