Based on their band name alone; it seemed impossible to classify Lewis & Clarke, the solo project of Lou Rogai, as anything but deeply connected to America’s roots and folk music traditions. Despite having been around for most of the decade after Rogai produced his revered 200 EP Empty Throne, Lewis & Clarke has rarely recorded, and the Light Time EP is a somewhat highly touted collection of Leonard Cohen-via Elliott Smith folk ballads. For a rural Pennsylvanian who rarely appears in public, the folkies still love Lewis & Clarke, perhaps because of his Rogai’s seclusion. Light Time is Lewis & Clarke’s first new release since 2002. The single “Petrified Forest” has been released to promote the EP, and it has helped build hype, along with the cover of Cohen’s “Chelsea Hotel #2."
