Ani Cordero’s stalwart, style-switching vocals sound a bit Debbie Harry (“Sea Captain’s Daughter”), a bit Celia Cruz (“Todo Por Ti”), and a bit Luscious Jackson (“Rezando Po Amor”). But they figure altogether nicely into this Brooklyn-based Latin guitar rock collective. Lamb Lost in the City (cordero literally translated means lamb) got my cold, white Alaskan ass dreaming of my trips through Mexico, where I learned to salsa, accepted serenades from mariachis and sidestepped dinosaur-sized roaches. Summer’s almost here, amigos. Cordero will be on my stereo; I will be on my stoop with a Negro Modelo.
