Savannah, Georgia's OTHER great metal export (watch yer back, Baroness) return with their fourth full-length, and oh my is it an asskicker. Static Tensions takes full advantage of the band's two drummers with a rhythm section that sounds like two Bonhams banging out tribal rock grooves. Leadfooted rhythms, simple guitar riffs and dual vocalists (one for each sex) yowling about whatever? This is what heavy music is all about, folks. As usual, this one was produced by band member Phillip Cope. Artwork this time 'round was lovingly rendered by John Dyer Baizley (frontman of Baroness), who has previously wrapped his signature art around albums by Pig Destroyer, Darkest Hour and Skeletonwitch.
