Review

Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland’s third album as a solo artist finds her in a state of re-invention. It’s her first album for Universal Motown after leaving Columbia, in addition to her first album since parting ways with longtime manager Matthew Knowles (father to a certain Mrs. Shawn Carter). Most notably, it marks Rowland’s first full-length attempt to fuse dance music with her standard R&B sound. Rowland teamed up with prominent songwriters such as Ne-Yo, Dr. Luke, and French house guru David Guetta for the self-titled affair, which she claims showcases her most confident performances to date.
