With her last effort, My December, the first “America Idol” winner took artistic control of her work, co-writing all the songs and then getting into a feud with label head Clive Davis over the project’s non-commercial nature. The results were disappointing, with a substantial drop-off in quality and sales, despite the fact that Clarkson had built up a solid fan base with her first two albums, Thankful and Breakaway. This time around, Clarkson brings in heavyweight producer/writers Dr. Luke and Max Martin (Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears) and the lead-off single, “My Life Would Suck Without You” seems designed to assure maximum attention. Other industry heavyweights involved with All I Ever Wanted include producer Ryan Tedder, it-girl Katy Perry and new “American Idol” judge Kara Dioguardi.
