Following a storied beginning as one of the grime scene's leaders, Kano began to slightly move away from his signature sound in 2010. It started when he collaborated with fellow British MC Bashy on “White Flag” off the Gorillaz's Plastic Beach. While the track had grime-esque vibes, it displayed that Kano wasn't necessarily stuck on the subgenre. Further proving that point is his fourth proper record, Method to the Maadness, which boasts production from Boys Noize, Hot Chip, Diplo, Craigie Dodd, and Kano himself. He's joined on the microphone by longtime cohort Wiley on club-ready lead single “Get Wild” and singer Michelle Breeze on hopeful second single “Upside.”
