Just A Fire's historical context is deep. It's made up of ex-members of Hoover, Chisel Drill Hammer and Haymarket Riot. Rooted in the hardcore past of D.C. and Chicago with very obvious nods to dub and subtle references to ska, the pool that they pull their sound from is even deeper. This mixture is by no means a bad thing. It brings the listeners in and keeps them for the album's duration. Light Up is a fine next-step for the members of the aforementioned seminal bands, and it is one that every fan of good, post-hardcore music should keep an eye on. Seriously.
