Before listening to a Junior Senior record, it's best to undergo a Zen-like cleansing of all your negative energy. Because if you enter the Danish duo's neon-lit disco roller rink with any lingering cynicism, bitterness, or self-seriousness, you'll be gouging out your eardrums by the third track. Never much known for their subtlety or depth, the gentlemen of Junior Senior deliver another hedonistic thrill ride on Hey Hey My My Yo Yo, zooming past all of the stylistic reference points that made "Move Your Feet" such a lethally infectious jam in 2003. From the cheeky rhymes that kick off the first full track, "Hip-Hop a Lula," it's clear that Junior Senior is going to throw everything in its DayGlo arsenal at you. Mountains of shiny synths, blaring horns, and legions of handclaps aim to pound listeners into a goofy-faced state of submission. Go with the flow and the album should treat you just fine -- even when the duo gives Bigfoot a shout-out on "Itch U Can't Skratch." Just don't come expecting any material that's going to last much longer than a phenomenal one-night stand.
