On her eleventh full-length album, Juliana Hatfield recorded Peace and Love using an eight-track digital recorder she bought off her brother. In a back room in her apartment in Cambridge, Hatfield sang of broken relationships in a hopeful manner, stating that she “just wanted to do something simple.” Peace and Love was self-produced and engineered, and Hatfield also played the entire instrumental range herself, from acoustic and electric guitar to piano, harmonica, and drum machine.
