Following the release of 2009's Colour Me Free!, Joss Stone looked to leave her label, EMI, and just do things on her own. She was able to accomplish just that in August 2010, when she announced the formation of her own label, Stone'd Records. The imprint is home to her fifth album, LP1, which she recorded in six days while holed up in a Nashville studio with producer-musician Dave Stewart. They share writing and production credits on the record that “captures a specific moment in time that was spontaneous and full of creativity,” Stone wrote on her website.
