Review

After Jimmy Eat World’s 2001 breakthrough, Bleed American, was cited as an influence on younger acts like Passion Pit, who were less jaded to mainstream emo, the band that had spent the '90s trolling in punk circles reformed to record Invented in their native Tempe, Ariz. Invented, the band’s seventh album, is being released on Interscope Records, with Jimmy Eat world taking the unusual step of releasing on a major label after the band’s contract expired. Longtime producer Mark Trombino is also back on board for Jimmy Eat world’s first album since 2007’s Chase This Light, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard chart -- a new high for the band but also their first album since Bleed American not to go at least gold.
