This six-song EP comes on the heels of the acclaimed songwriter’s Transnormal Skiperoo, his fifth full-length CD, and it explores much of the same Southern Gothic territory as his previous releases. Here, White’s (autobiographical?) storytelling comes to the fore, with songs that offer his usual skewed looks at life (“Stranger Candy,” “Jim 3:16”). The EP was recorded live at quirky locales like indie record stores and radio programs. All White fans know that in a live setting, their main man spends almost half of his on stage time telling comedic shaggy dog tales; this EP finally immortalizes a few of those routines.
