When you think about it for a second, it's kind of bizarre that such a big name in music as Jay-Z had never released a greatest-hits compilation. To be fair, there are several U.K./Japan-only records of this kind, but The Hits Collection, Vol. 1 represents his first proper best-of in the States. And it comes a year after Jay topped the singles chart on the Billboard for the first time in his career with 2009's "Empire State of Mind." That track and several other The Blueprint 3 hits found their way onto this collection along with jams like "99 Problems," "Where I'm From" and many others.
