After breaking big stateside with 2009's All or Nothing, British-born Jay Sean kept the coals in the fire by quickly recording a follow-up record, Freeze Time. Featuring artists like Nicki Minaj on the apocalypse-titled "2012" as well as Pitbull, Lil' Wayne and Mary J. Blige, Freeze Time is Jay Sean's attempt to cultivate some sort of lasting effect in the music game, in response to Usher's comments in May 2010 that "sustaining longevity is all about time; they have a lot to prove," in reference to the success of British R&B singers. Sean's response was a little catty -- "He's been in the game for what, 17 years? I completely agree with what he says" -- but at least he's trying to step up to Usher's challenge. And hey, if it doesn't work out, I'm sure the U.K. will welcome him back with arms wide open.
