Jay Bennett Kicking at the Perfumed Air

There's no denying the fact that the music world lost a lot when Jay Bennett passed away in 2009. The erstwhile Wilco multi-instrumentalist had more to do with that band's sound than anyone other than Jeff Tweedy himself. His duo album with Edward Burch remains an under-appreciated classic, and he was no slouch when it came to solo work either. As if to underline that last item, the newly formed Jay Bennett Foundation decided to make its namesake's final work, Kicking at the Perfumed Air, available as a free download in addition to putting a CD version on the market.
