The Blood of Life is the first album from the Tom Greenwood-led Jackie-O Motherfucker to be released on the U.K.-based Fire Records. It consists of five songs that were taken from a live radio session--three reworkings of earlier songs, one traditional song, and one new song. The traditional song is based on the Canadian folk ballad "Lost Jimmy Whalen." Highlights include "Hey! Mr. Sky," originally from their acclaimed 2005 effort Flags of the Sacred Harp, and the title track, which serves as the eighteen minute finale.
