Glasgow's Hudson Mohawke made his mark with 2009's Butter, his first proper album since dropping several EPs, singles, and remixes in the years prior. But following the record's release, the producer's focus moved back to remixes and touring while he began crafting his next move. He would eventually announce plans for his Butter follow-up, the Satin Panthers EP, in June 2011. The five tracks on the EP are filled with even more genre-blending sounds from HudMo, including booming dancehall-leaning single “Thunder Bay.”
