Hot Chip is succeeding at what the latest beat obsessives do best: giving us mini-statements to chew over, deceptively complicated song-things that unravel themselves at some really odd moments. "Over and Over" is a kinda great one, building and chugging along in a kind of boring way until about three-and-a-half minutes in, then slamming it home with blistering guitars. The B-sides show more growth. "Plastic" is twitchy dub alternating between light and heavy; "A Family in Here" is a high school slow dance, tender almost to the point of being sappy and stripped away of all the maskings found in everything else. A trio of extra-long remixes rounds things out and bring the disco funk back in plain view. A keeper.
