A misstep in an otherwise stellar line of top-notch mixtapes, Green Lantern's This Ain't No Greezy Talk is pretty well-balanced between hot keepers and sub-par nonsense. Highlights come early: Hell Rell and Cam'ron's Southern grind-flavored "Laughing at Ya"; Busta's Big Apple tribute, "New York Shit"; and Styles P & Red Café, who chip in with a dope freestyle over Dre's "Light Speed." Representation alternates mostly between East Coast cliques such as Dipset and ATL/N'awlins/Houston stand-outs such as T.I. ("I'm Talkin' to You," one of the best cuts on King), Lil' Wayne ("Where the Cash At?") and Chamillionaire (who teams with Jae Millz and Papoose for the great "Riding Dirty"). But the best moment belongs to Rick Ross, who murders a two-and-a-half-minute freestyle to the "Just a Memory" beat from B.I.G.'s wack Duets album (favorite line: "I'm underground 'cuz you overrated, bitch").

A lot of what's here is just awful, stuff like Jim Jones & Max B's "Knick Knack," N.O.R.E.'s Scott Storch-produced contribution (simply titled "exclusive") and the latest Busta single, "I Love My Bitch," all of which suffer from horrible beats and ridiculous ideas. But Matty P gets picked on for delivering the worst track, "Puff Puff," a boring and outdated weed ode with a dead-wood flow that ruins a perfectly good beat. But be most pissed at Green Lantern -- after producing classics like the Invasion series and The Champ Is Here, he should know better.
