Grails have never seemed content to simply be lumped in with the post-rock crowd, instead releasing a near-constant stream of wildly experimental, and at times terrifying, instrumental work that varies from worldly to cinematic. The Portland-based band spent two years, an eternity in Grails time, between full-lengths, with Deep Politics being the result. The album features string work from composer Timba Harris, and is said to draw inspiration from 70’s Italian film scores in addition to various strains of occult music.
