Guitarist Warren Haines’ popular jam band’s eighth full-length CD was recorded at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studio (the site of a former country club), where the bucolic Texas setting purportedly inspired some of the tracks. The CD’s lead off song, “Broke Down on the Brazos,” is said to be named after a nearby river, for example. For this eleven-track effort, Canadian producer Gordie Johnson (of Grady and Big Sugar) again helms the mixing board. The band’s lineup has changed slightly, though. Although Mule keyboardist Danny Louis and drummer Matt Abts remain, the band has a new bassist in Jorgen Carlsson, a former session musician and studio owner who recently replaced Andy Hess.
