
My favorite line in the press release for this duo's third album is, "In total, Fujiya & Miyagi don't really sound like anything." This telling bit of nonsense summarizes the futility of discussing music in the familiar terms of comparison and classification, particularly that of such a modern, hybrid group. However, the statement belies the colorful process and kaleidoscopic affect of the group's output, thus far. Expect more funky, silly, sloppy beats and deep thoughts masquerading as not-so-deep ones.
