Ingleside Terrace, the second full-length from French Toast, is all over the place. It almost sounds as if James Canty (formerly of Nation of Ulysses and the Make-Up), Jerry Busher and Ben Gilligan just upended their respective crates of records, picked out whatever landed heads up and wrote a riff based on it.  Which means there's not much cohesion here: a few of the reference points include Oasis, the La's, Interpol, '60s beat bands, '70s MOR rock and punk funk. Need some help picking a direction, fellas? I recommend following "Brejnev," an odd mix of electronic effects, subtle feedback, and thick guitars shot through with cobwebby vocals.
