Freeway/Jake One The Stimulus Package

There must have been a musical spark between Jake One and Freeway when they linked up for the Philly MC’s lauded and final Rocafella record Free At Last. Following that track, they crossed paths again on the producer’s showcase project White Van Music. Free’s two features were easily some of that album’s highlights, especially the gem “The Truth” with Brother Ali. And those two tracks caused such a stir that Rhymesayers, which released White Van Music, announced it would put out a Freeway and Jake One album. The Stimulus Package represents not just a culmination of here-and-there collaborations, but a welcome throwback to the one-producer, one-rapper format. Also, like any good rapper and producer these days, the pair offered a preview of this record with free mixtape, this one called The Beat Made Me Do It.
