Alt-rock heroes Foo Fighters return with their seventh studio full-length, Wasting Light. It marks the first time that guitarist Pat Smear (Nirvana, the Germs) has stepped into the studio with Foo Fighters since the late '90s. On "Rope," the first single taken from the album, the band comes with a heaviness and aggression that was absent from their last album, Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. The new album was produced by Butch Vig (Sonic Youth, Nirvana), who previously helped Grohl and company record the songs "Wheel" and "Word Forward" for their 2009 Greatest Hits release. Ex-Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Hüsker Dü mastermind Bob Mould guest on Wasting Light.
