In 2007, after the release of Efterklang's LP Parades, they were approached by the Danish Broadcasting Corporation about a possible collaboration with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra. They jumped at the chance, and work began on writing arrangements to make Parades work with an ensemble of fifty musicians. The debut performance was on September 26, 2008, and it was recorded on both audio and video. Parades was an ambitious project to start out with; it included over thirty guest musicians. Performing Parades expands upon that even further, and offers an alternate take on the original recording.
