This could have been huge if it surfaced about 10 years ago. Some of the songs on Mtn Cty Junk sound like the Singles soundtrack; others add some acoustic or synth strings for good measure. The album is just okay, but it's Drugmoney's debut for chrissakes. Maybe they'll get better, especially if they lean a little further away from the Foo Fighters or whatever '90s Seattle act they've rediscovered. Guitarist/vocalist Fisher Meehan prefers melody to just plain screaming, obviously, but manages to incorporate both at times. There are even some unexpected backup harmonies here, which seem to add a lot to the rest of the mix. But for the most part, it sounds a lot like flannel-shirt rock. I like flannel. I have flannel sheets. They're good in the winter.
