The Athens, Ga.-based alternative country/Southern rock group’s eleventh album is touted to have a more country-oriented sound, according to guitarist and singer Patterson Hood. Hood told AOL Spinner that the group’s previous album, The Big To-Do (their highest charting release) was recorded at the same time as Go-Go Boots, but the band had stockpiled so many songs that they divided them into two albums by genre. Hood also said the record is what he semi-jokingly refers to as “our country, soul, and murder ballad album.” Two singles from the album, “The Thanksgiving Filter” and “Used to Be a Cop,” got a limited-edition vinyl release in Nov. 2010.
