DJ Blaq Starr's “Shake it to the Ground” was one of the tightest songs of 2007; be you dancehall attendee or selector, it's power was inescapable. But the brief deejay-oriented EP that Mad Decent has compiled to hawk it is pointedly lacking.

Claude VonStroke offers a grimey, aggressively low-end remix that has some nice ideas but never strays far enough from the confines of the sequencer that spawned it. Drop the Lime has a ballsier take on the song, yet his track still sounds more like a deejay blend than a remix. And Switch & Santogold offer a mix that’s different from the original in all the wrong ways.

“Shake It to the Ground” is a great track and worth owning on vinyl, but if you're a deejay and know this song, you've probably already played it out.
