The loudest of Vampire Weekend's detractors usually cry about the massive irony of a bunch of well-educated white boys making good on a musical aesthetic delivered entirely into being by brown people. Well, it would seem that those same detractors should lose it after hearing that Vampire Weekender Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot's Wes Miles were releasing a pop/R&B record.

While there's maybe some validity to that complaint, the saving grace for Batmanglij and Miles might just rest on how good their debut, titled LP, actually is. Judging from the advance tracks, it looks like all of the haters might have to give the record a listen before they go ahead and spit in the duo's Kool-Aid.
