Forget what
Lou Barlow says
, Dinosaur Jr.'s reunion album,
Beyond
, was awesome. So the fact that J Mascis, Murph and Barlow are making another record together should be enough to make any self-respecting fan of loud-as-hell guitar rock jump for joy. But what might make news of
Farm
even more exciting is that the band is calling it's sound "old school." And I think I speak for us all when I say another
Bug-
or
You're Living All Over Me-
caliber album is just the pick-up we need while we're stuck in this economic downward spiral. The 12-track set will be full of all the extended guitar jams and big drums we've come to expect from the band, and even a few quieter moments (probably from the grumpily lovable Barlow). So clear a spot in your car stereo rotation this summer, or save some memory in your iPod (yawn), because
Farm
is going to be the best possible way to go deaf this beach season.
I'm really excited to see what Dinosaur Jr.'s come up with now. I got a little taste of Farm off of their website and I can just tell that this will be a great album.

I picked it up today and cannot say that I am dissapointed. I have had enough time to pull out some favourites and I must say that "said the people" and "see you" are standouts thus far. Things appear to get steadily better and the solos are definitely tickling the ol' love hammer. Probably a sure pick for one of the best albums of 2009. Dino produces a sound like no other.
