Deftones Eros
The most interesting and lasting of all of the bands who could've possibly been termed "nu metal," Deftones have recently had to deal with the coma of their bassist, Chi Cheng. It's safe to say that the fact that one of the band's core members was in a coma for several months will have had a distinct effect on the band's music and direction.
Speaking about Deftones' newest album, Eros, lead singer Chino Moreno said, "The songs are definitely weird, which is a breath of fresh air to me. I haven't been playing guitar on these new songs so Steph [Carpenter] has taken up the helm and that's worked out really well. He's been very creative has been writing very weird, melodic stuff. That's great because I want the album to be as weird as we can possibly make it without completely alienating people. If I had to compare it to any of our records, then I think it probably reminds me of White Pony the most. There's a lot of atmosphere and a lot of soundscaping. I couldn't feel better about it at the moment." All of the postivity about Eros from Moreno was put out before Cheng's hospitalization. Let's hope that that sad fact doesn't change Eros for the worst.

wish they'd release it already. i've soaked up everything i can find over the past 2 years since finding deftones and never get enough. their music is the most pleasing to my inner being of any on the planet. EROS, bring it. the fans have waited long enough. prayers to chi.

I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RELEASE OF EROS AND THE NEXT ONE AFTER THAT I WILL ALWAYS LOVE DEFTONES AND TEAMSLEEP NO OTHER BANDS OUT THERE EVEN COME CLOSE TO HOW ORIGINAL THEY HAVE ALWAYS KEPT ITI CANT HELP THINKING EVERYONE ELSE IS SO DULL IN COMPARISON

This band has always been number 1 in my book. In fact if I was stranded alone on a desert Island and only allowed to listen to one album for eturnity it would without question be Around The Fur. I said that the day it came out and I listened to it, And nothing has changed 13(?) years later. Now as for Chi he is by far my favorite Bass player, his stuff is original and melodic, and while other bands could probably drop their bassist and no one would notice He is a key of deftones. I met him in San Diego in 04 And he is also a very cool dude. The problem is to put fans on hold like this for so long, Saturday Nite Wrist was awsome and made my day and we waited a long time for that. Now to hear that they decided to make a whole nother album that will be out in a few more months and Eros is going on hold until they decide in the future it is time. Defones have evolved their sound many times, and with every big step, they may lose a few fans and gain a few other fans, but true deftones fans will stand by any album and we just want the oportunity to rock there latest album. Luckily til then They have hundreds of rare unreleased tracks floating around out there. DONT PIRATE MUSIC YOU CAN BUY!!!! but the rare stuff is different. We miss you Chi! Hope the auction helped!

yeah i was watching some deftones interviews and by what chino says that Eros is going to be out by the end of the year. I also heard that chi has awoken from his coma but he remains in a coma state. well i hope u get better brother Chi!

you've all got to understand, they started the album with chi and it should end with chi as well!!! We are all excited about eros but lets all remember! none of the deftones music ever gets old! take your time guys get well chi one love brother!!!
