Italian-American crooner Dean Martin may have always stood in the shadow of fellow Rat Packer Frank Sinatra when it came to singing, but he had a more casual way with songs that made his love songs more breezy and easygoing. Some 16 of these ballads will be showcased in this new compilation, due out just before Valentine’s Day. The recordings represent some of the most beloved songs Martin recorded during his Capitol Years (1953-1964). Although Martin stopped recording in the late 1970s, his appeal has hardly diminished. That’s evidenced by the success of last year’s collection Amore!, which debuted at the top of the Billboard Top Pop Catalog Albums chart and no doubt set the stage for this new collection.
