With so many musical acts hailing from Seattle, some are bound to be lesser known than others. Such is the case with David Karsten Daniels, a quiet (in more ways than one) troubadour from the Emerald City. This is Daniels's sophomore album, following closely on the heels of last year's Sharp Teeth. Fear of Flying seems to only incidentally share its name with Erica Jong's landmark tale of female sexual awakening, although those shoes under the bed on the album's cover sure are suggestive. Like Mia Doi Todd's recent GEA, much of the subtle beauty on Fear of Flying comes from Daniels's use of nylon-strung guitar. Daniels recorded the album himself at home.

I've been listening to David since he was in high school. This is his best yet. Besides Under Ligne 4 of course!
