David Bazan decided to just settle down and record under his own name after serving as the frontman for Pedro the Lion and Headphones. And he made his proper debut as a solo artist in 2006 with the release of the Few Moving Parts EP, which followed up three years later with a full-length, Curse Your Branches. A live EP would soon follow while Bazan crafted his proper sophomore effort and it was his touring that actually inspired him to change up the sound of his second album. He called on his live band to help him flesh out Strange Negotiations. He also opted to leave behind his personal issues for those of the world, particularly his gripes with the current state of social fragmentation throughout the world.
