    With today’s American country music floundering with models who can sing yet can’t write their own songs, Australia is looking to take over the international roots-rock market. Nicole Brophy’s guitar and Jodi Moore’s electric violin solidly ground their debut in the roots-rock tradition, but they wisely enlist the help of some additional musicians to bolster their sound. Meanwhile, Brophy has a world class-voice and Moore finds inventive ways to use the violin as a sonic foundation for some simple and beautiful tunes. The stripped down “Rescue” and the spiraling instrumental “TP Burnt” prove these Aussies are willing to try new things, and that signals a good outlook for the future.
