Prior to recording Zounds, Dappled Cities crammed themselves into an East Village one-bedroom and held a series of odd jobs to survive. The Australian art-rockers even took a side gig filming 26 episodes of the Disney children's show “Alphabreaks.” Yet these departures haven’t stopped the group from crafting dreamy and dramatic rock tunes – Dappled Cities picked up new drummer Allan Kumpulainen and producer Chris Coady (who previously worked with TV on the Radio) for their third disc. And honestly, if these Aussies can teach kids how to read, they can certainly inspire indie rock fans to (grand)dance.
