Latin Rap pioneers/cannabis enthusiasts Cypress Hill were, to quote Steve Zissou, not at their best this past decade. Nonetheless, one of the more essential hip-hop acts of the mid-90s will be dropping Rise Up, Cypress Hill's first album since 2004's Till Death Do Us Part on April 6. Rise Up will also be the band's first album since finishing their contract with Sony, and will be released on Priority Records on EMI via an enterprising label head known as Snoop Dogg.
Whereas Till Death Do Us Part featured an awkward Clash sample and a collaboration with Rancid's Tim Armstrong, Rise Up will feature collaborations with former Rage Against The Machine/ Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello. Earlier reports have also attached Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda and the increasingly bizarre session man Slash.
