    The press release boasts that on Comfort in Sound, “no note sounds out of place and no song seems a second too long,” but maybe that’s the problem. With drummer Jon Lee’s tragic suicide hanging over the album, Comfort in Sound reads like a Hallmark card — the sentiment is there, but the words feel like they came from a stranger. Human emotion is an irrational, erratic beast, and the album could use a bit of that unpredictability. Fans of the Foo Fighters will be pleased with the sonic resemblance on Comfort in Sound, but the album’s insistence on perfection ultimately stifles its humanity.
